It's too bad people see comments linking the obvious as "afro-centrist." I AM Cuban, born and raised. That NECESSARILY makes me a child of Africa, too. Periodo.

I must agree . i watch alot of nigerian movies and ive attended many parties of the culture. and the cuban dances are so similar to nigerian dances it is mindblowing.

perz919 Afrocentrist? cmon bro you and I know that out of all the Caribbean the island of Cuba is the one with the most potent West/Congo African traditions. Now yes there is a strong European element but the African culture transplanted in Cuba is to unique and powerful that it forces people to recognize its potency it is undeniable. So what does this mean people may say the Eurocentric side is the "fino" but the African element of our individual cultural indentity is dynamic and compelling.

they do like any other country that has different races. im not racist tho. Not the slightest... but i am not black....and people on this board are some what "afro centrist" and want to make a point that all cubans are black...not true at all....it like me calling you chinese when your black and saying well you just dont like chinese people then cause you dont want to be chinese....that the type of arguement these people are making

i live cuban culture and i know it is heavily infulenced by africans, but you people are building a streotype of cubans which is not true....

Im cuban and i dont have african in me....why do people insist that If your cuban you have to have african in you.....i know about the moors..ive been to spain...spain is also a mixed country...in the south people look darker medterainiaen/greek/arabic looking..in the north they have lighter skin and lighter features

Cuba is the second because it is the largest island in the Caribbean. I'm Cuban my dad is white but he is Afro Cuban. It goes on your genes how you look. Cuban is Ibo, Cimmarron,Yoruba,Chino,Spanish,Indian,even Arabic blood. If you have a problem having African in you then you should study about Moors because they were in Spain before the Spanish got to Cuba.I pray that people focus on things that are important. We all are human. When you love yourself and God that race does not matter.
