Matt 11:34-36 does not exist. and Luke 22:36 simply say to buy a sword. It doesn't say to use it. The Bible forbids unnecessary violence, there are several examples of the use of 'violence' in self defense, and also administering justice (only if there were at least 2 or 3 witnesses was anyone justly put to death). We are never to harm someone in anger or hatred towards them period, and if at all possible we are too avoid all contentions whether arguments or physical fights.

@4:15, I can't believe he made that pun. =D

"...Christ forbade violence..."Oh really? Then, perhaps someone could explain Matthew 11:34-36? And Luke 22:36.

The universe exists, and everything that exists had a cause that is outside of itself. The cause must be superior to the effect in every way. Since the universe exhibits life, intelligence, morality, and order, then the cause must be living, intelligent, moral, and powerful enough to put everything together. What started all the causes? Causes cannot regress infinitely or we could not be here now. There must be a single uncaused cause (God) and He must be greater than time itself (eternal).

Wow, poet418.In reading your comment, I am reminded of Dryden's observation, "Mere poets are as sottish as mere drunkards...a man must have a rational, a logical, to some extant even a mathematical head, to be a complete and excellent poet". You clearly do not have this and have posted the dumbest comment I've read this week -and *this* is the one you supplanted:"If you vote for closet Muslem Obama you can kiss your rights goodbye. You'll be FORCED to bow to Allah in the public square".

I know, stupidest claim!BIG difference between atheism and anti-theism...um, take that Lennox?
funkiestmonk (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Lennox literally brought up the 'Hitler, Pol Pot and Stalin killed because they were atheists' argument! I thought he was better than that. I say 'better' i just thought he was one of those intelligent christains who tried to justify faith through obscure metaphysical arguments that barely anyone can understand.

> How can natural> selection account for the first fear?The mind makes all sorts of shortcuts to be able to make quick efficient decisions that benefit survival.For example if you hear a sound that might be caused a predator, the brain tells you to escape, instead of stopping to find out what actually caused the sound.Therefore fear of unidentified sounds and moving shadows in the dark is something that you would expect natural selection to favor.

> Say I'm afraid of ghosts, which is a> universal human fear. This fear has nothing> to do with my fear of tigers. How can natural> selection account for the first fear?If ghosts do not exist, it seems that ghosts must be a cultural invention. Then all things pertaining to ghosts, including the fear of ghosts, would also be cultural.
