The part about him chasing Rob can be explained, remember, its a movie, if Rob and his party were never in any danger, it would be boring. If the monster threw the head somewhere else, that would be lame.

Rob works for Tagruato/Slusho, and is being promoted, after distributing 'Seabed's Nectar' extensively in New York (Jason wears a slusho T-shirt). After the creature destroys the Chuai Station (dated 12-27-07), it then decimates New York (1-18-08) possibly attracted by this 'Nectar' that has been stolen from it. Rob breaks open a vending machine & gives Marlena water to clean her bite wound, then later spawns a parasite. This Nectar is some kind of embryonic fluid from the creature. *bow*
