Thats what i would assume also, since thats exactly what you're supposed to o on a drumset. but on the Latin Percussion website it says "The bongo should always be tuned in a circular movement, start with any lug make sure you go to the next lug in the circle and not the lug across"I have no idea why but just thought i should let you know =]

No, I'm wrong, you're right! Making these videos is hard to synch the mouth with the brain. No matter how you tune it, try to turn all corners the same. Tension should be even all around the head. How you get there is personal preference whether you go clock-wise direction OR corner to corner. I look in the mirror and it's self evident that I'm not the best tuner OR player, but I do enjoy playing and sharing the drums. All skill levels are included, important, and welcome on the bongo planet.

wouldnt that be a half turn. the L end of the socket went from top to bottom, thats half, one ful turn would be 360 degress? am i wrong?

Thanks, this helped a lot! I just got into bongos and didn't know where to look for info and help. I'll check your other videos now. But Thanks again!

No problem. Try it. Your bongos, your preference.
DJPJ006 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
wouldn't it be better to cross-tune your bongos? so then the tension is spread around the drum
bongorilao (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
You are right, a full turn is 360 degrees, I only went half-way. The main thing is to start with bigger turns in the beginning and end up with smaller increments (quarter turns or less) as you get closer to the end. The end is where you want the end to be because it's personal preference how high you crank them. Again, the main focus is to maintain even tension on all four corners. Pardon my mistake but chewing gum and patting your stomach takes too much coordination at the same time.
