The monkey had no relevancy to the plot, but because it was Kevin Smith's first "hollowood contact" film, he jokingly asked with Scott Mosier if they could get an orangutan - and the next day to their suprise, they were given an oranguhtan.

that monkey was in another movie with jay and silent bob. they did that in clerks too. remember in this movie how there was like some chick who died in a pool, they said the same thing in clerks
