But dude, Fess showed the way back in the 40's, touring with Dave Bartholemew, and with Fats Domino also in the band. And there's just a big difference between New Orleans anything and Elvis. I don't think there's actually any comparison. They both shine, but in different galaxies.

Great song! I just got volume 2 of Soul Jazz Records 'New Orleans Funk' compilation! Not as good as the first, but a nice little sequle all the same! No Longhair on it unfortunatly, but some gems from the Crescent City!

I like Long hair, and I like Dr. John a lot, and I love Ray Charles...but as B.B. King said it...and you know it don't get much more rhythm and blues than B.B. King...Elvis was the best. He said that, and if you want to look it up, do it. It was on a television broadcast. I think he was right.

Walking with my dog, with my MP3 and with "Tipitina" I feel the life, the people, like a great and happy blues. Thank you, Professor. (Sorry, I am from Spain anda I don´t write English well).

Word... have you seen the transcript of his secret meeting with Nixon?Elvis was a great performer, but he was a counterfeit in ways that a lot of popular artist are today. The person's point above about white people stealing black people's music is correct in some cases. They would remake black music, giving it a malt shop feel to it and release it as pop. No credit was given because black was 'too black' and they didn't want their daughters swooning over some negro. This was done a lot.
