It sounds more like Jim Pankow wasn't practicing enough at this time! His jazz blues playing leaves a bit to be desired and his solo was very short.... no nice weaving of melodic lines like a jazz solo should be... Danny & Jason are clearly on top of their game but I dunno about Pankow... If he came to one of my jazz gigs and played like that the other horn players would be making fun of him!!

I recieved an email from danny saying very nice things about Tris. To paraphrase a few comments: "Tris was put between a rock and a hard spot. He is a fine drummer and a very gracious man. He has handled it very well. Always remember the good things about the band".

Buddy Rich had said, just before he passed away, that danny seraphine was the best rock/jazz drummer..God Bless, Buddy, and may Danny beat on forever.

If you members of the current Chicago are reading this, let me tell you that Danny is sounding today as the old Chicago and you sound so complacent. Give it a try and offer a public apologize to the great master Danny Seraphine. From your biggest fan in Mexico City.

To really see what Danny meant to Chicago's in-concert sound, style and energy, type in Chicago 25 or 6 to 4 (1984) in search videos above. Chicago certainly does not sound like this anymore, due in large part to Danny's departure. Tris is a good drummer, but he never fit correctly with the band IMO. He kinda gently leads Chicago through their hit machine, while Danny used to propel the band to play the way a rock band should.

He said in a Modern Drummer interview that he was hard to get along with and basically managed the band with an iron fist. Maybe they just hated his personality and used the drumming thing as an excuse.
