I have heard about this song, and have heard it been mentioned when studying Édith Piaf previously, but have never got the chance to have a listen to it. Once I heard this song, I was stunned, it is so beautiful, the words so simple, yet beautifully crafted in such a poetic manner.Unfortunately, I just have one question to spoil the moment, what is the indirect translation of 'Laissez-le-moi'? I do not speak French nor understand the language. However the GREAT PIAF trancends all language barriers with her sublime voice and heartfelt expressions of each song she sang. She left us way too soon. RIP madame.
