That wasn't from Disney. It's an early Chuck Jones cartoon called Tom Thumb in trouble.

First animated movie having the benefit of the multiplane camera, invented for Walt Disney by William Garity. The second animated movie including multiplane shots was the first full-length animated movie, Snow White... But I think "The Old Mill" still remains my all time favourite cartoon.

Aaaaaah... "The Old Mill". I absolutely adore this short. No matter how many times I watched it, it STILL gets me every time. Sometimes it's the opening, sometimes one part of the storm scene, or another... But always something "hits" me, don't ask me why, I don't know.Simply put: a masterpiece.5 stars & faved for sure!BTW, did you know that a rather recent Simpsons episode ("Bart Has 2 Mommies") contains some clear references to this short? |
