Love this video. Ruffian is smiling and so am I! The announcer needs to get a little excitement to his voice!

What a baby that would be--beautiful, with Curlin's speed and the courage of that filly? Wow. :o

again, the Secretariat belmont, if you want numbers give me Dr Fager, a sprinter who run classic under 2min; the mile1/2 is not contested distance more than half the derby runners never run the belmont, RagsToRiches beat curlin cause curlin hates running inside he constantly driffts out; had he been outside her he would have won, but no question the filly got the genes for the distance

The ride was what won this race. Look at the video of the stretch. Everytime Curlin fully extended his stride, the rider of Rags would drift in a little, causing him to get pinned back. He never got a chance to get full momentum in the drive.

let's breed these two and see what we get

Her hind quarters were the most powerful of all of the horses in this race. That's why I predicted she would win...I was right. I noticed the same thing in Secretariat...but he was in a different league from any race horse in history. He set a standard that will never be repeated....on any level.

This race gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. What a spectacular race! I couldn't have wished for a better race. That is, I would have liked to see Street Sense in it. I can understand if he just wasn't up to it though. |
