NYGuy - I think Essra Mohawk is the greatest singer-writer of the last 100 years. Many agree - Rolling Stone called 1970's "Primordial Lovers" "one of the 25 best albums of all time." Essra's phrasing & unique voice are incredible.She also wrote CL's "Change of Heart" & sang "Interjections" for School House Rock, btw.

Man, this is the best version of this song I've heard sung by ANYONE!!! Is there any song that she cannot sing and take to the highest level?? What a gifted, gifted artist!!

Most artists, including Ronstadt, leave out a key phrase in Cat Stevens' song that, to me, is the WHOLE meaning of the song. "When it comes being love she's first" (That's why the first cut is the deepest)
