When Joe uses the term mestizo he is talking about the mixing of races. I really do not see the connotation of the word being labeled as racist. If he were pure that is his reality and as long as he does not put down the mestisos, like he does not put down the pure people in this song calling this song as racist is ludicrous to say the least.

i am saying this whole discussion was someone asking why he made this song when he has also or more or only filipino heritage. go ask that person who posted not me. i just gave my theory as to why they might of asked it or why homeboy here made this song and others like it.

either way, the whole point is with this whole discussion is why dude who has whatever percentage of filipino is his genes not giving it up in the song and i pointed out maybe it has to do with the environment he was raised in and that's why he's giving respect in this song. that is just my theory but i am sure you can find his ass someone in NYC and ask him himself what why he didn't talk about his filipino ROOTS in this track.

bro thats cuz after the spanish american war, the government did not know what to do with us, what to call us..so ignorantly without doing any research on our actual roots, they just decided to throw us along with asians becuz of location.. however our culture+language is more related with indigenous roots than asian. but freal, we have no catergorization..ive seen original flips pass for mexican, asian, pacific islander, white, black, and this is before modern colonization

the true latin is the people who lives in the ancient "latium" in rome.The spanish aren't really latins, his blood is mixed with the north africans, germanics and the north is celt and basque.The sudamerican people aren't latins.

Telling you that Joe's race was important to him on a song where the chorus starts with mestizo is "racist?"The point is that talking about your race isn't automatically negative. Race isn't a dirty word. Your roots, your heritage, are beautiful things that should be shared and talked about. Not hidden. I'm glad you know this, and I'm glad you like Fania. I'm not going to curse at you or call you a racist, because I don't have enough hate for that. Peace from another brown man.
