ya its only honda with that problem...i know that those engines have pretty big powerbands. i have a cressida with a 7mge and htere isn't really a dead spot. same with my maxima with a vq30.

Ye that may be the case, I have a 2GR-FE in my Avalon in the US and I don't have any dead spots I can notice in the rev range, pulls strong all the way to 130mph and then starts to slow down in the grunt that it has.

i think godanselmo is thinking about honda...whose power band is always high end...most others, however, especially the 2gr in this car would have a much bigger powerband.

godanselmo I agree the old Toy motors like the 4afe's I remember had nothing under 4k, then they went nuts. The 2GR-FE though even without the supercharger is a different story, its got power and plenty of it throughout the rev range.

I saw one of these on the road the other day, I'm a Holden man, but I have to admit this is a nice car. But I'd never buy a Toyota, you have to rev the living shit out of these things to get anything out of them.

What I want is a car with two TRD Aurion engines yes a 7.0L W12 Twin Supercharged hypercar from Toyota Australia to take on the Bugatti Veyron, with direct injection and a 8000rpm redline and a 7-speed semi-auto gearbox just cap it off goodbye Murcielago LP640.

Great engine in this car but to me, the looks just doesn't cut it.The exterior just doesn't look sporty enough compare to the SS-V Commodores or Ford Falcons. But i guess nothing is perfect. This car has better fuel economy than Commodores and Falcons.

Bloody American engines are thirsty fuel suckers man.
Pumpedandy (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
TRD aurion makes over 400nm from 1200rpm, FG "XT" Falcon makes 390 at 3300,a falcons economy is not even close to an aurion, ive owned both, even a base BA xr6 will get around 14L+/100km of normal driving,an aurion will do 10L/100km easy in the same conditions,Modified xr6t's drink the fuel, Im not a crazy supporter of either cars, they both have there good points, you just made a load of rubbish up- TRD aurion will do a 13.9 quarter-traction off- base XT will struggle to do a 15.2

The Torque of the TRD is less than a Naturally Aspirated (NA) falcon XT despite having more power than one. The NA Falcon has equal fuel economy with the NA Aurion and thats even before i get into the FPV's n XR6T which are both capable of high 12's and low 13's respectively down the 1/4 mile with good economy. Spend less than $4000 on the Fords n both cars are into the 11 second 1/4 mile. Not 1 Jap car modifies that cheaply n easily. Even the Falcon XT is faster than a TRD down the 1/4 mile :) |
