crap i think.there is difference between "free ones" with "you must buy ones".the equipment in onboard is so simple (CHEAP), cant compared with dedicated. like filtering, etc. onboard good on paper.much like IGP-shared mem. vs Dedicated PCIx graphics. The answer is even Realtek highly praised ALC889a 106SNR?? is mumble, muddy when playing music, especially energetic music (Rock/trance).But i think this reviewer mean "no difference" in windows basic sound as TADA, DING, etc. that im agreed.

The HT-CT100 came out only a couple of months ago, so I doubt you used to have owned one. And, if you're a music lover, there are lots of better alternatives to Bose, including speakers and amplification from the used market. If I wanted something good for music, I'd get a vintage pair of Klipsch and a solid Denon amp.Or, if money is no object: McIntosh.

..lol yeah there good mate where i used to live had a pair..but they dont compare to the sound of the bose sorry.and yes ino bose are way to over priced.but im an audio nut "love my music"

You're limited in terms of accuracy and fidelity with a 2.1 system that tries to imitate a true multi-speaker setup. The reason I suggested the Sony HT-CT100 is that it will deliver equivalent performance for about half the price. Don't be fooled by the fact that it is a Sony; they are capable of making decent audio gear once in a while outside their ES line.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I would not recommend Bose, especially any of their home theater bundles. For the money, you can actually do a lot better. There is a very good reason why Bose isn't used in audio production: they are not accurate. For example, to achieve imaging, they are largely dependent on reflection, which also affects accuracy as the reflecting surfaces, such as your room's walls, can introduce colorations to the sound you hear compared to direct-firing speakers.

The problem with most onboard sound solutions are that they are like cheaper sound cards; they tax CPU resources to process audio data. The only exception may be the onboard audio on nVidia nForce motherboard chipsets, provided that the nForce chipset is actually running the sound as there are some nForce boards that don't use the nForce chipset for sound.I have a Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS, which takes the sound burden off the CPU as it has its own dedicated processor for that.
