One thing i like bout Ma is that he is one of very few politician in Taiwan that can speak fluently english.

edwincheung72, if you read the part about "the only country in the world threatening to invade Taiwan," you'd know that chihchingchen is referring to the PRC.If Ma is "pro-ROC anti-PRC," as you say, why did he order the removal of ROC flags from venues in Taipei -- even from spectators -- while allowing PRC flags to fly during international competitions taking place there? And why is he so open to the PRC?

ChihChingChen,This really depends on how you define China. May it be PRC? ROC? or in a broader sense the Chinese nation? Ma Ying-Jeou is a Chinese person pro-ROC anti-PRC. What are you afraid of?

He probably means he's Chinese in a cultural sense, like many pro-independence Taiwanese do.

How can Taiwanese people elect a guy who claims himself as a Taiwanese and also a Chinese when China is the only country in the world threatening to invade Taiwan? How can he protect Taiwan if he thinks he is also a Chinese? He is either too naive or too childish. |
