of course its not useless. unbiased studies actually seem to show that groundfighting people in the street only win fights 5% of the time. people who fight standing up have a lot better chance. by all means find a good karate school and train.

I respect every MA and I respect BJJ as well, but as a Karateka myself I can tell the guys "representing" Karate here really suck, First: you can never get in a range that is close enough for your opponent to grapple or throw you.Second: True Karate teaches that a fight must end with only one strike which must be as fast and strong enough to kill your opponent or break any of his bones(it takes years of bone-conditioning work).Karate is not for TV Shows or impressing people to make money.
