I have to say that I still get those chills down my spine in hearing Renata Tebaldi sing Mimi's aria. I have heard many Mimis over the years (De Los Angeles, Freni, etc.), but she remains the ultimate for me... She captures the lyric/spinto sound beautifully.

Pele, Louis, Visconti, Tracy and Joyce, for sure.

Well, I'm not so sure: Visconti or Fellini, Proust or Joyce? very, very dificult.

I agree with you. Every single video I have posted has a five star rating. The Tebaldi vids get 4 stars not because she wasn't a great singer, but because obsessed Callas worshippers somehow only feel validated if they cruise the Tebaldi vids and give them one star. I automatically delete vile comments that have nothing substantive to say, and the nastiest posts are almost always from Team Callas. But, since you ask - Pele, Joe Louis, Fellini, Brando, Joyce.

I agree too ! both Victoria and Renata were Opera aces.

sorry mate but honestly Victoria de los Angeles is singing in another league. renata Tebaldi was for sure one of the greatest prima donnas! and her performance as mimi was outstanding!

I completely agree with violinthief. Victoria is one of the great sopranos of all times and I think her Mimi is nice too.

I respectfully disagree with greestboy - for me, Tebaldi is the ultimate Mimi. It is a matter of taste - De Los Angeles' lyric soprano versus the massive dramatic voice of Tebaldi. On the other hand, I find bonanplu's entire post to be silly. De los Angeles was a world class soprano, one of the great singers of her generation.

Victoria De Los Angeles voice is very little and her notes on top does not vibrate.Victoria De Los Angeles technique was flawed, Victoria De Los Angeles at 40 was made, Victoria De Los Angeles was unable to sing italian opera, Victoria De Los Angeles voice was small , Victoria De Los Angeles had NO temperament, Victoria De Los Angeles was an artist without caffein |
