What don't you like about Dudamel's conducting. (I honestly just want to know)

And in response to your question, no, my comments don't make me "feel important". And why do you feel sorry for me? Is it because I don't like Dudamel? From your comments, you're implying that you yourself are qualified to make such comments. Now, does that make you feel important to question me in a degrading way, such as you did?

I made a comment about Dudamel's conducting, not Mahler's works. Why wouldn't I like Mahler? I just don't like the clown on stage conducting, and would be horrified (not to mention stupified) if I had to play under his baton. Anyway, what do you mean "qualified"? To have opinions about his conducting? And do my comments make me feel important? Why would they make me feel important? Important to who? Why would I want to feel important (over YouTube)? What would be the point of being important?

A reply from a Mahler aficionado who has listened to his works for more than 50 years. Are you actually qualified to make a comment like this? Perhaps you belong to one of those who would have complained about the lack of butter at the feeding of the 5000? Does such comments make you feel important? I feel sorry for you.

as extreme as in this clip? that's really interesting - I'll have to look for it... lucky you to be at the concert!!
shixxor (September 29, 2008 at 6:03 pm)
no. i went to his concert about 2 weeks ago in lucern(switzerland) and the gestures were performed exactly the same way, including the reaction time of the orchestra.

It's too bad, because it would be nice to get a feel for how dudamel conducts... he's great to watch, but it's difficult to appreciate his style and talent without having the timing right.
BernardProfitendieu (September 29, 2008 at 12:42 am)
no, that's not it - it's challenging getting the synching right on youtube uploads -- you'll see a ton of mis-synched stuff herehas nothing to do with reaction time |
