your yaris also isnt nearly as big as the camry. the camry is a full size semi luxury car not a small 2 door economy car. thats like compairing apples and oranges.

the batteries are in the trunk. i have one and love the car. who cares that its not very quick. its a hybrid not a sports car.

Get your facts straight before you start making a fool out of yourself. Wait, its too late for that.

The battery cost 3,000 dollars, mostly because chevron owns the patent rights. The expected cost of the new lithium ion batteries, for this size application would be 700 dollars. Using your disposable car logic, all cars are disposable. Actually that's true; all cars are disposable, except antique cars. The batteries are designed to out last the car, so it's a moot point anyway. The transmission will go before the batteries.

That's all well & good, but what's the replacement cost?Toyota & those that review their products seem to leave out this eventuality. If the cost is more than what I still owe on the car than I might as well trade it in.Hence the disposable car.

The Camry hybrid uses NIMH batteries. They are in the trunk of the car and can be replaced. They are recycled and are designed to last a minimum of 180,000 miles. Hybrid cars take the previously wasted energy from stopping and store in the batteries. So if you took a normal car that gets 23mpg/city and 30mpg/highway, made it a hybrid, it would get 30mpg/city and 30mpg/highway. |
