A clip of our journey to the peaks of Wudang Mountain in China and to the Purple Cloud temple. It is 6.30am and Priest Yuen is starting his day with TaiChi while his students assemble for morning exercise. We removed voiceovers and narrative, so you can sit back and enjoy the really nice soundtrack. Jon Braeley producer of EmptyMind Films.

bccritters, I can't agree more. It's no coincidence that centres of excellence for the martial arts are also centres of meditation. People tend to identify with THEIR styles and this just adds to the crap that forms the ego. This technique, that style, best, worst. Just how much are you training?

It's an interesting fabrication and just because you practice a chinese art doesn't mean you can't criticize. It's like someone who was claimed to be racist goes: "Oh, I have black friends." heh...yay... -_-

Well good for you, that's great Keep up with it! What you are claming though is like a Judo practioneer looking at Shaolin styles and saying: "That's all wasted arm movement." How can you make a comment like that when 1. you've never done the style. 2. you don't know the application 3. you don't know the meaning behind the movement

Maaaaate! Yep. I'm an aussie. I am chasing one rabbit dude, i'm just taking a different route to you. I do an art, I stick at it for at least a year. Then somtimes money problems, or I decide it aint for me, or the school closes or moves, all of which have happened. Though there are three arts I will allways train in and will allways stick with me. Karate, hapkido, and tai chi. They are my path.

brethren... let us not bicker. let us be truly happy and joyous. ~ peace, love, understanding, wisdom, healing, virtue. ~ blessings to all

Your chasing more than one rabbit here, you'll never have dinner. Just because your getting the taste for each style doesn't mean you understand it. It takes years to delve into the true purpose. Are you Australian...mate? I have also trained in TKD, Karate (isshinryu), and have been training Shaolin for quite some time now. They are ALL different. Of course there are similarities but not as you describe them. Learn to stick to something instead of bouncing around aimlessly.

BUt maaate! you are a fool! Karate isnt the only style I have experiance in. I have done Taiji, two styles of karate, a third style, but unnofficially, SOuthern mantis kung fu, hapkido, TKD, a tidbit of wing chun, boxing, AND I was training with a shaolin student for a short while.

interesting video, I seem some parralels to what I have seen and experianced on Okinawa, as for Karate not being a Martial Art....i guess thats your view lakhu999999 ......however you canot ignore that the U.S. Marine Corps did an exhastive study of not only Okinawan Karate , but also various forms of Chinese Boxing to formulate the Close Combatives .

wow...it's like a beautiful dance.
Myderion (September 25, 2008 at 4:19 pm)
Don't call me a fool when the only knowledge you have is over Karate. I'm giving you some insight into a Chinese system and your being disrespectful. relax... don't go as tense as they do in karate ;)
