lol... and with missing the point you mean that i don't agree with you? :/It is nearly funny that Dennett can't seem to figure out what consciousness and qualia is, when in "reality" it really is one of the most obvious things that exist :-)I like Dennett's talks! and i think he is a smart man. I have a suspicion therefore, that he knows what qualia and consciousness really is, but don't want to admit it, because it would force him to think about, what humanity really is.

You, sir, are missing the point. Never mind...I'm too tired to try at the moment.Just watch again, only next time concentrate; or, ask someone brighter than you to break it down.

YES. Colors are simply how the machinery of our mind and eyes interpret differences in wavelengths of the visible spectrum--which, by the way, is only a very, very narrow sliver of the vast expanse of the total EM spectrum. Prof. Dennett spoke correctly.

3:20 some should inform Prof. Dan Dennett, that colors and wavelengths of light, not is the same thing :-)

I really don't think optical illusions are demonstrative that consciousness is an illusion. And seeing the inverse colors on a white screen after you stare at an image is the result of photoreceptor fatigue in your eyes.I wish Dennett was better researched on this. Because it is a very intriguing topic.

Way too far fetched if you ask me. There is nothing so far that indicates anything immaterial existing so I won't take my escape in that direction just yet.

Dammit, I want to be Dennett when I grow up.

empty space is actually a thing though. there is really no such thing as empty space. there is energy everywhere. the energy called matter is just a certain type of vibration. stephen hawkings talks about this in "a brief history of time"."sure there can be these kind of sensors that detect thought, but again it does not aswer anything because a neuron is nothing more than a unconscious "switch" that..."what defines wether something is conscious or unconscious?

I dont think it's something otherwordly, but I think it is something immaterial. It's not some THING.Best analogy I can give is "space". Totally empty space. It's not a thing, but we know it exists. :) |
