As said, the Oscar was not for this wonderful score ~ Morricone lost out to Herbie Hancock for 'Round Midnight' which was a skilled recreation of existing "standards" and not ORIGINAL as it's supposed to be. Co-producer Sir David Puttnam said Morricone was "robbed... I mean, grotesquely robbed of an Oscar."The Lifetime Achievement Award ~ along with which goes a standing ovation ~ was given in 2007, presented by a tongue-tied Clint Eastwood ~ "I should have worn my glasses..."
