I don't think this is really 'allegro vivace'. I absolutely love this movement, and it seems to have such less charatcer when played at this pace - each pause might as well be a pause between movements. It almost sounds like a passionate 'andante con moto' or something! It's odd, it just seems so different when played this slowly

Actually I think the "flowing" theme from second theme section (just before the development, and before the coda) is played slower than the rest of the piece... I still think Harnoncourt is a great musician.His way of dramatizing the music with his body (face included)is really accurate. I would prefer that he commanded more the orchestra, that he were more in control of everything (tempo, articulation, phrasing) It's just not his character... |
