Compare how fast the Gorn swings the tree branch (so it can break, presumably) and then throws it away, almost as rapidly. Then, the Gorn inexplicably loses 60% of his speed. When the Gorn finally gets Kirk in a crushing embrace, he forgets he has a mouth that looks as if it could swallow even William Shatner's head, and chew it off at the neck! Terrific feux rock acting though, Shatner really gives that fake foam weight.
