En Tegucigalpa: El Crematorio (The Dump)

In Tegucigalpa all of the garbage is brought to one place, and if you go to this place it is like you are in another world. I had the opportunity to go to the dump and to also see a ministry that is taking place just outside the dump. The ministry is one of education, where around 150 children attend a school, which will allow them to achieve greater opportunities in the future. The reason there is a need for ministry at this dump is because there are around 1,000 people who live IN the dump. These people are in a very dangerous place because of all the toxic substances they live around. Some of the problems existing in the dump are HIV, prostitution, drug addiction, alcoholism, and abortions. The average life expectancy is around 40 years. It was a very humbling and surreal experience to be there.While I was filming this experience, the ministry that was taking place was done by students and faculty from the Instituto Evangélico Penzotti, located here in Teguc. They distributed water and bread for the people. The pastor who works outside the dump told us about the great need that these people have for water. The people that we saw collecting trash were actually workers in the dump, but they only earn around 20-60 lempiras per day. (that's roughly 1 to 3 dollars). With all this work they get thirsty and many will drink any liquid they can find in the trash.

yo soy salvadoreño y yo he visto lo mismo en mi pais.Todos pasamos lo mismo mis hermanos. Yo la verdad andaba buscando videos para ir a pasear a las playas de honduras, pues es un pais tan pero tan hermoso. pero al ver este video hasta las ganas se me quitaron de gastar mis dolares.ojala este video traiga a la meditacion a mucho mas personas...

el govierno tiene la culpa de las miserias de sus paises, se q a Dios no le gusta ver esto, pero la realidad es q el govierno y todo ser humano tiene la culpa por dejar q esto pase!!!

Muy buena reflexion. muy buena causa, muy buen video, de verdad que los seres humanos nesecitamos cada vez mas los unos a los otros, dejando atras posiciones sociales, y titulos idiomas y demas, ojala el mundo pensar igual, ojala nos pusieramos la mano en el corazon para ver a los que nos rodean, ojala gente como ustedes se multiplicara haciendo causas como esta que los que las valoramos, las aplaudimos y respetamos...
