LAPULAPU invented nothing and definitely not kali, it`s a mere rumor to attract westerners.

kung ayaw mo maniwala mag basa ka ng libro, historical accounts written by spaniards who survived the battle of mactan.

idiot, stop believing any bullshit they tell you at your school. i am filipino-american and according to filipino, european and american historians, magellan was killed by an arrow and javelins, NOT KALI/ARNIS/ESCRIMA.

Its as old as magellan..its an hybrid warrior art made for a warrior of a clan..one example is Lapulapu(a DATU..a leader of a Clan)..it is this art that killed Magellan 6 Days upon landing in Mactan.

Actually the Spanish encouraged the use of blade fighting skills from the local villaged to help them defend against the Moro raiders who constantly raided the coast in search of wealth and slaves, they actually train local garrisons as they did not have the man power themselves to defend all their out posts. People forget that the majority of the Philippines was anamistic in religious beleifs hence it was so easy to convert them to catholosism and they where quite keen to defend against Moro's

i think kali is way older than magellan and lapu lapu era. the art was probably being used during the malay nations era. not just old. it's ancient... the use of the sticks was developed because the conquestador missionaries banned native bladed weapons...
