Well done! I worked on the F101 for a couple of years..... I'll never forget watching early morning takeoffs with afterburners blazing.

That's my grandfather. We were able to convert a film reel of the operation to DVD so we could enjoy it for many years. We still have all sorts of memorabilia; even a picture of him on the Ed Sullivan show! His name is on a plaque in the Smithsonian's along with the other record holders. Despite numerous successful missions over Korea and Vietnam, and breaking the world speed record he was denied access into the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robbins, GA.

Cool video! Nothing beats the c-130 for time in service. As I recall shortly after retiring this particular aircraft the pilot returned from D.M. in a c-130b.LOL!

In Operation Firewall on December 12, 1957, Major Adrian Drew flew an F-101A to set a world speed record of 1,207.6 mph (1,943 km/h) over the 10-mile record course at Edwards Air Force Base in the US. Major Drew earned himself a Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for this feat. In Operation Sun Run in 1957, an RF-101 raced from Los Angeles to New York and back in the record time 6 hours, 46 minutes. (I love Google!)
