Actually, "Edge of The Century" was released in 1990, long after Kilroy. The band on that album was pretty much the "classic" Styx: DDY, the Panozzo brothers, JY, but with Burtnik filling TS's shoes, taking the second guitar\tenor voice spot. Not sure why Shaw wasn't there - maybe because he was with Damn Yankees at the time...

I can see why Styx kicked him out of the band. The other members of Styx always tried to be something they never were intened to be once they kicked out Dennis. They wanted to become a respectable hard rock band with a serious sound but it was a little to late, 25 years to late! The damage had been done,so it was pointless to kick out Dennis. Eitherway Styx sucks, I throw them in there with Journey. Mellow/boring area/ballad pop bands!

Dennis has PROVEN that he is and was the genius behind Styx. He wrote and produced nearly every hit they had. He is performing now in large sold out theaters and arenas while the old Styx boys are at the county fair- that's the proof in the pudding. Styx without Dennis is a high end garage band. Dennis without Styx is a musical genius still out there doing it- the orchestral combination he has created is brilliant. The musical work on this tour makes the original Styx boys sound like hacks.

i love how people speak out of pure ignorance for i did not say that STYX split up because he wouldn't dye his hair. but if you knew anything about the band like you are acting, then you would know that they won't let him take back his role as lead vocalist unless he dyes his hair. your nonsense buddy. look up the facts before you start to accuse me of ignorance.

This is the most outlandish theory I've heard yet. They split because they wanted Dennis to dye his hair!? That's nonsense.

wow is he bitter Lawrence Gowan is a Keyboard Prodigy ( seen him coutless tiems) and is 10 x the keyboard player DeYoung is... as well he matches up vocally very well

Styx is nothing without Dennis, Shawis good but not enaugh to support the weight of the band.

What a prick. Styx didn't need him...they had Shaw. Besides, he's the reason they broke up, bankrupting the band with that tour in 83.

I certainly recognize DeYoung's contributions to the band. I liked Styx even before Shaw joined (I was in high school at the time), but the direction that DeYoung eventually took them (with "Paradise" and especially "KIlroy") was just silly, and that's what broke up the band.

"Lady" is a DeYoung song, jellowrestling. Tommy Shaw hadn't even joined the band yet. But I do agree that Tommy Shaw is better. Better singer, better songwriter, better person, you name it. |
