how do you make the buck stopper?

Pathological lying is a puzzle even to psychotherapists because it is often done with no apparent motivation. Google it.

Why do you believe he lied about child abuse? To help his training career? It makes no sense.

'Horse trainers are a relentlessly jealous lot.' Which ones? All of the ones I know enjoy sharing information with each other, and enjoy helping newcomers and kids. They are competitors but they are also community. Why he allegedly lied is something lots of folks would like to know; perhaps he thought that presenting himself as an abused child would give him easier entry into the motivational speaker schtick? MR is one of many excellent horse trainers.

Sigh..I never said he was the first, he was responsible for a breakthrough in horse training tho-just as many others are. Everyone is entitled to opinions, and Monty has his just like anyone else, its part of being human.

'Monty was responsible for a huge breakthrough in horse training'No, he learned his methods from earlier horsemen, including his dad. What he calls 'join-up' was done much earlier by other horsemen, including Don Dodge. No one, however, can dispute Roberts' horsemanship skills. We would like him much better if he hadn't descrecrated the memories of his parents, who were fine people. Newcomers and kids who don't know the history become horse owners; be selective in choice of idols.

Horse trainers are a relentlessly jealous lot. Always have been, always will. Monty is extremely good at marketing himself, and he undoubtedly makes more money than most. So be it. However, he is the real deal. He is a horseman of the highest order, and he has helped to elevate this "natural horsemanship" phenomenon that has benefitted so many horses. As for the whole abused child controversy, I say: Why would Monty lie about this? However, that's all secondary to his fine work.

If it wasn't for Monty, where would this horse - and many others - have ended up? Yer, slaughter. Monty spent years learing from horse herds and observing them so he knows what he's doing. He's a brilliant man. |
