当時を考えると靖国街道と言うのではないでしょうか、英軍にも似た表現が有ります。未亡人街道当時、似たような無暴な陸軍、軍人が大勢居た事は事実です。

日本側からは、評価できない戦いと思うが、インド側は評価しているようなので、なんか複雑な感じだ。

牟田口司令官は、「失敗したら腹を切れ」と部下を難詰するも、自身は自決することなく、余生をまっとうした。 部下に「陛下へのお詫びに自決したい」と相談した時に、部下から「昔から死ぬ、死ぬといった人に死んだためしがありません。 誰も邪魔したり止めたり致しません。心置きなく腹を切って下さい。今回の作戦（失敗）はそれだけの価値があります。」と言われたが、結局自決することはなかった。 兵士たちへの謝罪の言葉は死ぬまで無かった。それどころか遺言を残して、自分の葬儀においても、自己弁護を印刷したチラシを参列者に対して配布させた。東条英機といい牟田口といい、いくら修正史観でもこれらの人物まで擁護できまい。

Is perhaps surprising that Japanese were prepared to show close-ups of faces of their own dead, this is a very very rare thing to happen in Allied war films and photographers.

I am from Imphal, the reason why the allied won the war in Burma and Manipur was beacuse the Japanese lacked the statistics of the entire territory.

As you stated above, this operation was the worst one for Imperial Japanese Army.They (Army high command)started the operation without enough air support,food and so on.As thsi video says "Each soldier has food for only 20days and 240 bullets"In this operation, most Japanese died because of infectious desease, not battles.

I must commend the Japanese courage in such desperate circumstances. We Brits underestimated the Japs at first and then immediately respected them of their fighting tenacity. |
