For the most part, at the moment, the theremin is one of those instruments one must teach themselves on, unless you live near one of the masters.I am working on a dvd which will cover more theremin instructions in greater detail, but you will still have to be self motivated to learn, and teach yourself the theremin. There are very few people around who teach. There are a few books, and one, or two other video tutorials by other master thereminists. It takes a few years, & hours a day.

I really want to get one. Is it self taught? How long does it take to master? This is a really informative video. Thank you!

This is perfectly understandable. Also, have him check out Theremin Concert on Burns B3 Deluxe video.

my brother is stupid, he says this isn't an instrument just because you don't touch anything. He thinks its a toy. Maybe this video will change his mind.

You can get one on the web at places like soundslikeburns, moogmusic, paia, wavefront, harisoninstruments, and other general musical instrument online shops, including e-bay. ;)

Yes, there are many works written for theremin. Check out thereminworld on the web, and look in the forum tread named composing for theremin, and theremin repertoire. There's even a new piece just written called "Sea".

Hello Thomas, can you tell me whether there is any piece of music written for the theremin? |
