It's not a matter of opinion. "Improvisation" is composing spontaneously to some degree, and as such every spontaneous composition is improvised.

Well I think it would be wrong to make a statement with no grounds for your argument.But that's just a matter of opinion like stanjarin has.Improvisation is, indeed, what is being done in this clip. Yet, what stanjarin is commenting, is how most musicians improvise over "ready-made" melodic and rhythmic patterns. Whereas musicians in Damo Suzuki's Network try to throw all conventions aside and play music that is "truly" improvisational.
