These were a pair of worn out farriers clinchers. I straightened and adjusted the jaws to fit 1/8 inch. This style of tongs is not overly difficult to make. All the indents are on one side and the area around the boss bent over the bick.Punching for the rivet swells the boss.Cheers, Mark

Mark, Great work that your doing there. I would like to ask you a question in particular about the type of tongs you used in a certain section of your video. You use these particular tongs at 4mins 10sec on the video and I would like to know where I can purchase them or if you made them yourself.Cheers adam

I think 1000C = 1900 F and that is within a welding range (at the low end)Start by trying to fold a piece over on itself and weld that. Use good flux. I like 'Sure Weld' in the gas forge. If that welds then the rest is juggling practice with two pieces rather than one.Cheers, Mark

we have only a small forge that can heat the steel to cherry red or maybe orange if you wait long enough (i think it's only a bit more than 1000 degrees C) would this be hot enough?

Watching this is mesmerizing. I'm taking up blacksmithing as a hobby and you make it look so easy.

**Thanks** Mark,And Inazumax. I had Umbellical Hernia surgery a couple weeks ago and can't do any lifting or pounding right now, But when I heal I can't wait to give it a try again. When I do I will try and place a video responce on here, So you can see how I do. Thanks again..Tom |
