Of course it's about fear, ET.People used to be imprisoned, tortured, and killedfor being gay.Gee, maybe things haven't changed so much after all..Don't you know that homosexuality was common in Roman culture?Don't you know that King David was madly in love with Jonathanand that they used to meet for romantic picnics?"Liberty and justice for all.Nothing less.

Precisely because of FEAR. American history shows a very gradual acceptance of LGBT people, with attitudes changing only after the Stonewall Riot in 1969. Until then, police raided undercover gay bars and arrested people just for dancing. After the riots, acceptance kept growing for gay people. It wasn't until 2003 that the US Supreme Court decriminalized "sodomy" between consenting adults, so its clear that slow acceptance of the LGBT community has led more people to come out.

I did not ask you to think about specifically the popular media's role in getting young people exposed to the whole issue of homosexuality. I asked you to think about the major differences of homosexuality between hundreds of years ago and now. Why do you get more people professing they are gay today and not couple of decades ago? If you say because of fear you have to give evidence because there are only assumptions and no hard facts available.

''But I do not agree with the whole concept of homosexuality. Thats all.'' What the fuck is that? People are born gay, it isn't a choice. Now stop with your bullshit arguments.

Straight people are so ignorant. Read at the history, homosexuals exist. You can not deny that. In some tribes, homosexuals are being accepted. Information don't teach people to be gays, but information show people that gays exist. People are just scared of gays. If they're not scared, you would NOT limit their rights. It's power syndrome.
mediorion777 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
So you're saying the media makes people gay? MTV and FOX make people gay or is it Madonna and Barney the Dinosaur that make people gay? This is ridiculous and it's ironic that you say "this is something to think about," because if you were truly THINKING, you wouldn't come to such a preposterous, uneducated conclusion.

I did not vouch for guys who are trying to block your rights. I just said they gave a valid reason for the point they made. Why are u reading which I did not write. I support your cause because I believe in free will. But I do not agree with the whole concept of homosexuality. Thats all.anyway, i seriously got to go. bye.
ETworldjone (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I am not even sure if homosexuality exists even today. The difference between today and 500 yrs. ago is just that more young people are getting exposed to this misinformation and getting confused on their sexual orientation. Whereas that wasn't the situation 500 yrs. ago because there was no media and the world is much closer now to get exposed. There could have been people getting attracted to same sex 500 yrs. ago but not as widespread as today at all. That is something to think about.

"They did not make a black and white statement that homosexuality was unnatural."So what you're saying is that despite the fact that you're not even certain about this, you're still going to pass judgment on gays and vouch for those who deny them fundamental rights?
ETworldjone (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
They just did not make a black and white statement that homosexuality was unnatural. They gave a reason or an argument for that as well. Actually there is more but i didn't think you would not bother to comment on it which is why I couldn't give you the further reasons they gave.Anyway, I've got to go now. Nice talking to you. Probably, I'll be back later. |
