we refer to it as arnis in the northern islands, kali in the visayas, escrima in the southern....all means the same thing

Try to learn how to hold the stick properly first before you start teaching. I can disarm you in an instant in the way you hold your stick.

umm duh u cant rly stop someone with a sword and a swinging mace, but this for people who to a certain degree evenly matched weapons wise. u cant just swing the sticks wildly and stop bullets.

kali, escrima, arnis are the same. they are called different names as to what region in the world you are. Arnis is usually the term used in the philippines, escrima is I think a spanish term, I forgot where the term kali came from but the three terms are all the same. btw, kali/escrima/arnis is really practiced with both sticks, though some demonstrates a single stick. try looking up vieos of gm remy presas and/or rodel dagooc, or look up doce pares here in youtube and you will see what I mean.

we been teaching FMA (Arnis, Kali, Doce Pares) and we still call it a stick in layman's terms. But your right, the preferred term is baston. We also refer to it as olisi or garote. Some systems call it a cane

And threee-- I'm sorry about my negativity, but I just don't like the one-stop-all martial arts studios, as you can see in the background with the different types of weapons used in other arts and their Karate sign. Again, gomenasai.

Almost forgot, the three-point stance and approaches to stricking and defending at the same time are poor. One arm must be up while the other is down, not both arms side-by-side at any time. Kness slightly bent, head down and back ready to spring. I apologize, the 2-stick approach is ok, but eskrima is based mostly on a single baston, unlike Kali which is based on 2-baston fighting.
