"Geek" is a corrupted form of "geck", originally meaning a simple-minded, intellectually deficient person. Geek has later come to get a number of different meanings throughout the ages. Among other things, a category of "stupid" circus acts such as biting the heads off chickens, a generall term for "odd" people, and more recently a synonym, subcategory or relative of "nerd". So basically it's come half circle and completely lost its meaning, in that modern geeks are not generally stupid.

Uhh..Someone who is specifically interested in or knows a lot about a subject (normally something non- mainsteam like comics, science, anime etc).It's not a bad label though-- it's better to be smart and having a good time than not learning anything and just going along with a crowd.Geek love! :3
