This is not fair. It's like my tenor friend singing Cortigiani or Largo. I would have bee OK with it if he went for a high C at the end.

For all reading CzarDodon is the bonafide, professional, registered Mario del Monaco hater. This seems brings joy to his life, to constantly and in every possible ocassion trash an individual who worked tirelesly for decades, not writing prejudiced notes in the web, but performaning and passed away decades ago, Sad, Sad, veeeery sad. Bravo Mario, Bravo Maestro, Long live in us and U Tube!, Thanks Oneguin65 and all those who appreciate the heart and soul of Mr. Del Monaco!

He surely can!!, his dramatic-heroic voice gives him the privilege of singing this baritone aria. Of course I preffer it sung by Aldo Protti , Leonard Warren or Juan pons!. What do you think?
bellatrix58 (February 20, 2008 at 10:01 am)
Il prólogo is a baritone aria. He sings in a more heroic than dramatic way, but of course he is not very familiar with the aria. However, he is MARIO DEL MONACO, THE DIVINE ONE!!VIVA!! BRAVO!!

seems off topic but that's they way it went

yes and yes, you missed something and I am
bwerth (February 17, 2008 at 6:34 am)
umm, did I miss something, or are you trying to rip Del Monaco for not singing notes by Verdi in a clip of Leoncavallo. Save the Verdi discussion for another clip page.

The fact that he doesn't want to, and maybe at this late stage he could no longer do it even if he did want to, is part and parcel of the difficulty I have with MDM as an artist. I believe he was interested more in his own personality, image, or cult than interpreting the works of great composers. And his hype macho singing reflected a fundamental insecurity: if I sing piano they might think I'm not a 'real man'. |
