You're so right. That's the part of the reason my grandpa enlisted in the army back then. He said he wanted to do what's right and keep the family tradition going. (Every generation has atleast one person in the army) Hr figured he'd get drafted anyway.

It's definatley worth it. There are a lot of war scenes. I watched it when it came out and we watched it in SS this year. I really enjoyed it, and that's even coming from a girl! ;) But anyways, it's totally worth it. --The main reason I saw it was because my grandpa was in WWII & Korea :)

To WeeAllsI bought this film about 3 weeks ago after seeing it on T.V and I would say it is worth buying. There are many fight scenes dispersed throughout the movie but also scenes of the flag raisers back home in America. So it is basically their flashbacks of being in combat and their memories of the friends they made.(:

i have doubts about gettin this film. it looks good in its own way but it also looks boring. it looks like there is only 1 good short fight and then the rest of the film is all about these guys hating to be called heros and the whole thing about the american flag raising. is this all it is? i want to know if theres alot of fight scenes :)

I loved this movie and I think it's one of the best war movies of all time but I thought the part about the war ending, if they didn't raise enough bond money, was way overplayed. I highly doubt the country would have stopped short of total victory just because of a lack of bond money. They would have raised taxes or something to find a way to pay for that war. Also by that time we had already developed the bomb. Lack of bonds would have been the last thing to end that war prematurely.

You do make some valid points but remember, back in those days there weren't any incentives really to join. I'm sure if they had some they would have had people join to just to get the benefits. Also near the end of the war they had to draft people. Most of the pure patriots joined after Pearl, the longer the war went on, the more the Draft was responsible for filling the ranks. |
