The drivers involved were Hitoshi Ogawa, who won the Japanese F3000 championship back in 1989 and Andrew Gilbert Scott, please correct me if I spelled his name wrong, Ogawa crashed into the fence post something like happened to Krosnoff at Toronto in 1996 at CART, but Ogawa was even more unluck, he crashed head on into this post, his cockpit was totally destroyed, he was a great driver, and that was a big loss to Japanese F3000 :(
