Sorataholic"Silver lining" refers to finding the good in a situation that is usually less than wonderful. For instance, my niece is attending college this fall & is in a dorm that has where all the rooms/students on her dormitory floor will share the bathroom facilities. When she was telling me this, I made a face & said "yuck." She replied "Well Auntie Season at least I won't have to clean the bathroom." That was her silver lining for this particular (yucky) situation. Hope this helps.

It comes from the expression "Even the darkest clouds have a silver lining" it means that even when everything is going terribly; there is something positive there if you look close enough.
