My interpretation of the meaning behind this song is, Its about cutting something out of your life(hence the name and mentioning of the 'razor')..making a big decision..taking the time to consider everything first. "day after day, cutting away" this is how a big choice affects you....eats away at you for a long time. "make up your mind...i need to know...i need to know tonight"..this is realising you have had enough and have to decide before you go crazy :) love foo fighters...always will!!

Before the IYH album came out there were reports that Josh had written a song (at least the guitar parts) for them... but as it now appears Josh only performed it for the album track, while Grohl supposedly wrote it..

Anyone notice that this video is actually pieces from two performances? If you look closely he is playing his Gibson cutaway from the beginning, then at 3:28 it he magically is playing his dreadnought. Check it out. and he switches back to his cutaway at around 4:37 i think it was. great song though!
