Kelly Clarkson.... Has an amazing voice. I like her version of this song. And the way she hit that note at the end was beautiful.

... do you... realize how... um... self-righteous you sounded just there? A little? Wild and crazy as the truth may be, anyone who's ever survived a side-walk Christmas has heard every color, texture, contrast and consistency of this song. Enjoying the performance isn't exactly an indication that one's been living in an uncultured bubble. How's about you judge the music for yourself, and leave the rest'o'us barmy farmy nutcakes to our own opinions. Mmkay? Thanks. B-bye.

Couldn't agree more.

Ah ok. Well sometimes since we only communicate through written words it is much easier to misunderstand online. I respect your opinion. :)

and i saw on another video of this exact performance (one with video, not pictures) that she was the one that insisted on singing this song for the pope.anyway, It's just how i feel, and apparently tenor220 does too.

EXACTLY!!!! Although, I do love this version.

Why would she have thought this was a competition? What I was saying was that some people just have competitive attitudes for everything and try to always be the best and take things beyond peoples expectations. I was very impressed with her performance and I loved it, but I just think that kind of attitude is not appropriate for this song. It's very religious and religion doesn't have anything to do with that kind of attitude or lifestyle, or at least it shouldn't.

How much higher is one supposed to go? I think she went above and beyond with those nights. This is probably one of the best versions I have heard of this song. The only other one that stands out is Celine Dion, who can do not song wrong. Well except for Shook it all night long by AC/DC hahaha

I don't think Kelly saw anything competitive about this performance. Kelly has clearly stated she has a strong connection with God. Perhaps the pope admired her for that and sought her out, to appeal to the youth. Regardless, the Pope sought her out. It was a personal invitation. I am sure she was honored and floored beyond words. The Pope is a historical position which has served God before modern time. Who would turn down an invitation by the pope? She was humbling and did an excellent job.

i love kelly clarkson, i love ave maria. they're two of my favorite things, but i did not like ave maria sung by kelly clarkson. i think tht vocally it was an incredible performance, but its always been a classical song and should be kept that way |
