"William Demarest was, in a lot of ways, kind of the primo Preston Sturges guy. He was a go-to guy. He does a fall in MIRACLE OF MORGAN'S CREEK. He trys to kick his daughter. Which was a laudable impulse in the plot, as I recall. Trying to kick Diana Lynn in the butt. And he lets fly with a kick. Misses her by a good 6 inches. And flies straight up in the air and lands flat on his back. And you think: either this man has been killed or he's done a very very funny fall. And it turned out to be the latter.
