That day in 1963 is one of those mornings I remember so vividly from my childhood living in a Nashville neighborhood near the Copas, Hawkins, and Hughes families.

As someone pointed out on thunderbird1958's Cowboy Copas video - "Goodbye Kisses" - Hawkshaw Hawkins died in the plane crash which killed Patsy Cline and Cowboy Copas on March 5, 1963. Hawkshaw had one entry on Billboard's Hot 100 - "Soldier's Joy" peaked at #87 in 1959. |
