very well said...sadly, too many of us subscribe to the post-modern version of reality. The sad inability of many to distinguish between a musical demonstration of cultural heritage and theocratic governance sorely misunderstands both our history and the definition of governance. This powerful song is part of US history. This song was on the lips of Union soldiers as they charged headlong into deadly Confederate fire. To deny historical music and bow to the dictates of the ACLU and apply current day standards to this and other historical music is wrong. Union soldiers died by the tens of thousands to save the Union and free the slaves from bondage.

This is such a great and powerful song. To me, this has nothing to do with the issue of the separation of church and state, this is just a 5-minute glimpse of the beauty that man is capable of creating, and we should just take it at that.

I am proud to be a part of this country and am grateful to the men and women who serve to defend my rights, but I have to say that this song, especially in this context, smacks of theocracy in a way that makes me very uncomfortable.
