rolling stone ranked him as the 18th best guitarist in rock and roll, you may not like his style, that perfectly fine, but going as far as calling him a bad guitarist is just crazy, even if u dont like him, theres no denying he has mass amounts of talent

i agree music taste tells a lot about a person, i always use to judge people based on what they liked. but now i'm studying music in college & i find that stereotyping people based on what music they like is just wrong, all of my friends are into completely different music than i am. as for john's guitar work being primitive, listen to blood sugar sex magick. that album has some of the most intricate funk riffs i've ever heard. it's all about control and restraint

i dont have respect for people who like her, i'll tell you why, yes ur right in one hand but a musical taste says a lot about a person wouldn't u agree? and i dont like the kind off ppl who like her, i find them very shallowcalpton was and still is a good musician, dont forget he was one of the first..there is a reason why he was called "god" back then, john's playing is very primitive in my opinion, everything in art is not better then the other only different..

Yes i do have respect for people who like her. I don't judge people based on their music tastes. No knowledgeable musician would say frusciante is better than clapton? Well i would for one. Back in his hayday i think clapton was a good musician, but now he's just boring. frusciante is a musician that is constantly changing his sound and his taste in music. You can't say one person is better than another, it's all about peoples opinion. There is no right or wrong way of playing guitar

do you have respect for people who like Britney spears? as a musician? no...same goes for this guy, he's good to some degree, but he's not good enough to classified as one of the top, and you think Clapton is overrated that's your opinion, but as a musician you must always have two views in music, your personal taste, and facts, and the fact is Clapton is out here at the very top, and no knowledgeable musician would ever say this guy is better then Clapton, diff yes, but overall not as good.

lmao i love the fact you keep saying 'as a musician' well i'm a musician too, and i can say without any doubt in my mind that frusciante is the most awe inspiring person i've ever seen or heard. if you don't like him then thats your opinion, personally i think clapton is overrated bollocks, but i doubt go on his videos and say he needs guitar lessons. so have some respect for people who do like frusciante

i told that as a musician i see this in a different way, as a critic, and no hes not one of the top 5 guitar players today, not even close actually, and your welcome to send more replies i'm not getting pissed by this :).the problem is, your not being open minded, just because u like it u protect it, ur not even trying to look for some evidence to see i'm right.
