I live in Halifax and I read the Herald today about Africville and I wanted to learn more about Africville so I came here to search for videos...what a sad sad story. i'll never understand. NO one should be treated differently/badly due to race or color. Thanks for the video. Peace to all.

I was 4 moved into anew house in toronto. a girl, also 4came up to me and said "HI" I said "Hi, you have a chocolate face" she said "you have a vanilla face" then she touched my cheek and i touched hers "Wanna play? "ok". In high sch I saw a film on ML king.I ran from the class hysterical I felt so much shame. Please accept my apology for I ask forgiveness in Jesus name.

We learn from our past and our mistakes. Ignoring what has happened distines us to relive those events. We obviously haven't learned when we see comments like this. This example can been seen all over the world. It is happening between Oil Companies and us regular people. Anything for money and who cares who is taken advantage of. We also are convinced oil has to do with the middle east yet record profits in the industry are from the U.S. We need to take respinsibility and do the right thing.

I do, but all I know was that its population was entirely black and was near Halifax (and they saw the explosion) as the video shows.

(Cont'd)Perhaps it is as Graham 1983 has so lucidly expressed. The reasons for this injustice in the face of so many past injustices needs to be examined; the nature of "colonial hegemony" and it link to "North American (white) prosperity" cannot simply be ignored. To say, as you have done, that "it's a shame, but unfortunately its 'history'" is tantamount to being indifferent to the suffering and injustice faced by others!
