Not quite that simple , the Israeli government continues settlements in the West Bank and continues to refuse to abide by UN resolutions calling for the return to the 1967 borders among other violations of international law, for example with the separation wall. Of course there needs to be retaliation/punishment by some kind of authority if any violent attack is carried out, but in the case of the collective punishment dealt by the Israeli Gov. the "retaliation" is cover for its real goals.

It's pretty simple -- if Palestinians stopped attacking Israel, there would be no reason to retaliate. I doubt that will ever happen however..

Yea, the woes of the Palestinian people are definitely self-inflicted. Zionists, on the contrary, really made their own way in the world, primarily through utilization of peaceful leadership and policy and certainly not in collusion with British and American military and arms interests.
