It can be very tricky, but if you are able to be very detail oriented and diligent about sticking to procedure, you have a good chance at many trouble free miles. I just turned over 100K miles and posted about it on the Greasecar forum. I can't put links here, which is very annoying, so go to the Greasecar website, then the forum, and do a search for "100K using WVO in a 2005 PD!"Follow the string back to my 80K post and my filtering setup.

Hey Chase I ordered a grease car kit for my 99.5 golf diesel, but vw dealer said they had 2 vws with clogged injector plus gummy pistons.Have u had any problems with your golf? I can get oil and I will filter with 5 micron filter, will that work? I appreciate any help here.

yes at 50% ratio you dont need to make any conversion to the car. during the winter months you will need to use 75% diesel to make sure it starts in the morning. many of my friends do this as it is a lot simpler than converting to a twin tank and you still save money at the pumps!

If you mix the veg. oil with diesel at a 50% ratio, does that mean that you do not have to make any conversions to it? This is an amazing concept.

Are you kidding. This is great and we need to get started somewhere. Technology grows from the bottom up.

jangaboo depending wot country you live in as to how warm it is. if you live in a cold climate the oil is too thick, hence the reason for heaters in the fuel line. i mix my veg oil wiv white spirits(mineral spirits) to thin it. diesel cars wont start from cold using veg oil, this is why we use a twin tank system to start on diesel. you can mix veg oil wiv diesel at a 50% ratio and it runs fine using a single tank, hope this helps.

feverwilly i wouldnt say it cuts the life of an engine by 50%,, what source does that come from? my engine had done 128,000 miles before i converted mine to run on veg oil and i have done a further 36,000 miles on veg without a problem.

Its not all roses.. its alot of work to run a car on Veggie Oil and you'll cut the life of your engine by 50% and it's better suited to older vehicles.. |
