Its much different now than in the 70's when I came out. You really had to hide alot back then unless you happened to live in a gay friendly city. Now we are out and open, and many realize we are not so different than they are. I do wish gay pride parades wouldnt be so outrageous though. The shock value just sets us back. Straights don't need to see men in leather with their cheeks hanging out.

When people ask 'why do they have gay pride parades' this video is a pretty easily explained example.

Yes they do. I got to the community college in Salt Lake, Utah. I heard about it in the GLBT Studies class I took.

Do some colleges have LGBT history classes? Because I'm freaking sad I haven't heard much about this.

Actually some advancements have been made. Most states have done awayt with sodomy laws and it is no longer illegal to dress in drag. Yes, during the Stonewall era, it was illegal to dress in drag. Also, sexual orientation is now included with race, gender, age, and handicap when it comes to school applications, jobs, ect. So saying there isn't much of a difference between then and now is an incorrect statement. Also, the Bible isn't the reason. We just have to give society a chance to evolve.

Older Gays need to be respected for paving the way. They went through Hell for us.
